Organizing My Life!

There is too much going on. My life is just plain BUSY. I'm up all night long between the two girls, I wake up and go to a full time job where I stress out, I come home and stress about my house not being clean, stress about the fact that I don't have a perfectly cooked well-balanced meal to feed my family, stress about the fact that I'm not able to do all these crafty pinterest-y things that all the 'other' mom's do, stress that my poor blog has been quite neglected ( i could go on and on). Add that to the other normal girly things that I stress about (appearance, clothes, family, hair - which by the way, just got chopped off by a girl who obviously does not know how to cut hair...but I won't go into that right now) and I can just feel my blood pressure and mood swings flying all over the place.

I'm done stressing.

I'm a Mom of 2 under 2. My life is just going to be chaotic for a while. I need to accept it. I need to quit comparing myself to other people, and I need to take responsibility of myself and my household! With that being said, I'm making a pledge to myself. No, not one like the one I made last time of here of promising to keep up with this blog every week...we can all see how well that worked out. And in fact this pledge includes putting this blog on the back burner for a while. (*gasp!*).

I am going to go through and organize my entire life. No, this isn't a 14 steps program or anything. I just know that in order to quit stressing, really focus on what is important in my life, and stop worrying about the little things, me and my type a personality has to have a plan. I don't know exactly what type of plan this is yet, and I think that's a good thing. I do know that by Christmas next year I will be different. Maybe just little things, maybe big changes, but I will be different. I am going to go through and concentrte on one thing at a time, and everything else I will just quit worrying about. SO eventually I will be back to blogging several times a week, but for now, don't be checking daily ( and disappointed daily ) to see if anything has posted. I WILL post here and there about important things and holidays and just random posts when I have time (key phrase there), but blogging is not high up on my list yet. Hopefully I'll be so organized next year that I'll have daily blogs with funny phrases the girls are saying and perfectly edited photos to go along with it. Ok, slow down, that is not a goal. Just a hope :)

So here we go! This is not a resolution, this is not a promise, this is just a plan. So don't fault me if I fail. But I won't. But just saying. :)

**check back periodically for any updates on the organization or random posts!** --this is assuming everyone hasn't already given up on this poor blog already.

Perdido Paradise

A few weeks ago we enjoyed an amazing week long vacation at the beach. Yes, be jealous. The house was perfect, the weather was perfect, the family time was perfect, and the kids were anything but perfect. We all caravan-ed together so everyone came to our house to meet up, take bathroom breaks, and stretch a little. We headed out and were ready for a nice relaxing vacation....10 minutes down the road both cars were pulled over on the side of the road in front of a state trooper. So much for relaxing. To make matters worse, my insurance card was still for our old car and our one for the van was not IN the van. I don't handle these situations well. I started yelling "what do they do to you if you don't have proof of insurance?!' like they were going to take me off in handcuffs or something. I know they don't. But I didn't want a huge fee along with my fee from my ticket. Anyways I panicked when the guy started asking me how many tickets I've had in the past 3 months (none) ... how many tickets have you gotten total (none). In the midst of my concentration of answering the questions respectfully, my idiot brain forgot that I didn't have the correct insurance card, and handed my license and (wrong) insurance card over to the trooper. He walked away, and I started yelling again about wondering what they are going to do with me. Next thing I know he walks back, hands me my cards, and says to be careful. That's it? I'm not going to jail? No big fat fees? Thank goodness. I did not speed the rest of the trip :)
I realize you did not start reading this to hear a huge story about a cop so here's the rest of the trip. We were split up guys (and lexi) and girls for the trip down there. Lexi slept the whole way....Ava didn't sleep at all. I was in the car with Ava. My luck amazes me sometimes. We got to the house and it-was-awesome. There was a garage underneath and stairs that led to the front door. You walk in and everything is nice. Nice hardwood, nice furniture, nice decor, nice TV's, nice kitchen, even the toilet paper was nice. It was folded like the do at the hotels. The main level had the kitchen, dining room, and living room - which were all open and connected - and then our bedroom/bathroom and Ava's bedroom. The upstairs had Chelsie and Brian's room/bathroom, a washer and dryer room with a utility sink, and then the master of all bedrooms, Doug and Sherry's room. This room was huge, but then you walk into the bathroom and it was jaw-dropping. Just huge - the closet was as big as our bedroom. So anyways, you get the point. It was nice.
Now every family does vacations differently. Beach vacations especially. What my family does is we go, and we do spend time at the beach, but we also have activities (shopping, minigolf, eating, shopping) and we go out to eat a lot because we all love fresh seafood. Chad's family goes to the beach. You wake up, eat breakfast, then you go to the beach. Come back, eat a quick lunch, go to the beach. Come in, eat dinner and chill all night. Don't get me wrong, both kinds are great, but I really needed a relaxing vacation like this one where you just go and sit (not that I really sat too much with a toddler running around, but you get my point). They were kind enough to let Chad and I go have a date night which was wonderful! We really needed that AND the place we went was actually a hit. It was called CRABS down at Pensacola Beach. I also got to go see the Blue Angels practice which was honestly extremely cool. I didn't think it would be as cool as it was, I must admit. We saw the practice then went and watched an IMAX on the magic of flight which was also pretty cool. My stupid motion sickness kicked in several times though and I had to look away. We saw the museum and looked at all the awesome planes there. I highly recommend doing all that if you ever get the chance!
Ava really loved the beach. She still randomly gets excited and says "beach! go!" like we can just walk outside and go down to the beach. I was a little nervous about her and the sand because she does NOT like anything on her feet - she stops and brushes off the tiniest of crumbs at home. When she first touched the sand on her feet she paused and said "uh oh" but I kept showing her how fun the sand was and she ended up being fine. She was a little daredevil with the water too. If we didn't hold her hand she'd try and just walk straight on in and the water was pretty rough. She helped Poppy and Chelsie build awesome sand sculptures and one of her favorite things to do was chase the seagulls. The funny thing about that was that she ran about as fast as the birds could walk away so she didn't end up getting the result of the birds scattering and flying away like she wanted most of the time. Still funny. Lexi slept a ton. She was the definition of beach bum. It was pretty windy but it didn't seem to effect her too bad. We would cover her up with a towel and she would just make herself comfy. When she was awake she was happy and playful. Sherry volunteered to watch her during the night so we could get some extra sleep, which we gladly (and gratefully) took her up on!
It is also tradition on the Burris Beach Trip to watch the movie Titanic at some point. We did and I think it took about 3 nights to finish the whole thing because we were all so worn out. We played a couple games during the week and just had fun chilling. It was great. Still can't believe it is over! We need to go ahead and start planning the next one :)

She's also starting to put words together. She's said several 2 word phrases like a word and then the color of whatever she is pointing out, or a person and a description word about them but the longest sentence so far was when we were watching Lion King and she said "Oh! A baby lion!"

Speaking of, her favorite things to watch right now are The Lion King and Winnie the Pooh. I believe we've watched them a combined total of 5000 times now. I must say, these are SO much better than watching the little baby shows. Those were getting a little annoying... :)

Favorite food: any fruits really. Blueberries and bananas are at the top of the list!
Favorite color: I'm not quite sure on this one but I'd say either pink or yellow is what it seems like.
Favorite animal: Dogs, giraffes and pandas
Favorite activity: anything outside and swimming, also dancing

She is a very smart little girl which can make things challenging at times but she's getting through it! She still isn't the best sleeper, and her sister is outshining her in that category for sure, so maybe she'll learn something from Lexi! She has a very sweet heart and is always hugging and kissing things and people. 95% of the time she is very, very sweet to Lexi and I love watching them interact.

Mobile Monday's Magnificent Make Up!

Weeeee'reeee Back! Here's lovely pics from the past few weeks. I'll have to do some sort of HUGE post of all the ones we've missed the past several months, but maybe this will hold you over for now!
Isn't she precious? I can't get enough of this cubby girl!

First pedicure for Ava! She held so still - such a girly girl.

Went swimming for the first time last week - Ava LOVED it. We were the last ones out of the pool because she did not want to leave!

Laying out - haha

Krispy kreme trip for some free doughnuts!

Helping brush sisters hair...

silly faces

This is what Lexi does - holds on to her own hair. Sometimes she pulls it but its more of a comfort thing. Crazy girl!

Which one is ava?

Sister love!

Tummy Time

Yes. That IS poop.

Both girls at 15 weeks. CRAZY!

Krispy kreme trip again- the blog messed up the order

She is getting so big! I cannot believe we had to break this out already.

Sweet sleepy times

Some prizes from Gigi and Poopaw - all the Disney Pooh characters!

Lexi Lee Burris 5/4/12

Very early in the morning on 5/4/12, Chad and I left sleeping Ava with Mimi and Poppy and snuck out to head to the hospital. We were in a brand new part of the hospital so it was different from what we had just done 15 months ago with Ava. We arrived and met our friend from church who is a L&D nurse there and started getting everything ready. She is the same girl who helped deliver Ava! I put on my wonderfully flattering hospital gown and then went through all the routine things of medications, IVs, monitors, etc. At about 7:45ish I was wheeled back into the OR. This is always the part that takes forever. With Chad gone and with them setting up and getting everything ready I feel like it takes a minumum of an hour, when in actuality Chad was back in that room in about 10 minutes. My favorite part of setting up (feel the sarcasm here) is when they take me and roll me over on my left side - because I'm numb and can't move myself - and then they slip a board under me and roll me back over, then move said board to the operating table, roll me to my right side, remove board, and then they all leave. I'm a fan of roller coasters, but that's not one of my favorite rides. So an hour  10 minutes later Chad finally comes in and here we go! Lots of pressure, tons of tugging and then at 8:14 AM little Lexi Lee comes out weighing a whopping 7lbs 15oz and we get to hear that much anticipated first cry. They held her over the sheet for us to see and it's that moment where you quickly, without realizing it, count every finger and toe and completely check her over and let a sigh of relief out when you see she is healthy and normal. Chad then gets to go do all the fun stuff and watch them clean her off and weigh her, etc, etc while I get to lay there alone on the table as they sew me up. Yay. Thankfully there is a screen where I can see everything going on with Lexi. They came over when they got her all swaddled up and we took our first picture together :)

Chad then goes with the baby and I keep laying there and then am wheeled into recovery where the skin to skin action and first breastfeeding moments occur. Everything went great. Couldn't have asked for it to go smoother!

We then get to go to the room and see the families which is always exciting. I say this as if I have 12 kids when in actuality I've only done this once. Anyways we see the families, and I was a little nervous about how Ava would react. She actually did wonderful. She came in, hugged me, saw the baby, hugged and kissed the baby, snuggled with me and the baby, etc. It was precious! I was so thankful to have lots of family around to keep her entertained. My dad brought over this horse balloon that was weighted down so it looked like a miniature horse floating around the room. If you know of anyone having a baby that has an older sibling - get one of these. It was perfect. We just had to 'put him down' a couple weeks ago. He lasted a long time!

We were there for 3 days. The first night Lexi slept for 6 hours straight at night and I woke up shocked, scared, (and in pain haha) and completely excited that maybe THIS child would sleep! Yeah, the next night she was up every hour and a half. Comes with it, right? She ended up dropping down to 7lbs 4oz at her discharge weight and we almost had to do the bili lights but decided to try just keeping her in the window and getting her lots of sunlight. It took a while to get over her jaundice but eventually we did and she looks great now! Still has a little tan like Ava did, but definitely not as dark as Ava was.

Dr. Kennedy was great the whole time from delivery to discharge and I've loved her being my doctor with both baby girls. If there is a next time we will plan on using her again!

Little Sister shirt!

This is Ava's big sister gift - her very own chair. She LOVES it.

4 years down, many more to come!

It has been 4 years since Chad and I got married. Honestly, I feel like so much has happened in those 4 years and it has absolutely flown by, but seems like forever ago when we were first married. It's very hard to remember life without kids. Very hard. I know there was a lot of free time which is a word I don't even know the meaning to anymore. But I can not imagine life without this man by my side. He is one of the best things that has ever happened to me and I am so blessed to have him!
(**I'm just going to pick back up blogging again as if there wasn't a 3 month lapse and hope that no one noticed I was MIA for a while...**)

Mobile Monday!

Ok after this post I am not making any promises that Mobile Monday will continue EVERY Monday -- I will try my best to keep up with what I can but I will have a newborn and a toddler, and no sleep so we'll see.
New big girl booster seat for the dinner table! (ps - Mimi she LOVES that bunny rabbit. She carries it around everywhere!)
Trying to get ava to 'smile' - instead she said the word smile and apparently spit out some drool on her chin at the same time.
Ava helping Daddy put together Lexi's dresser!

Ava had to come to work with me on my last day. She actually did REALLY well.
Hanging out at work! Sweet girl :)
This is how ava sleeps. Originally she's covered up with that pink blanket and the white 'blankies' are all up around her head. She's just a bit of a wiggle worm...
I know it's dark but we got some new Elmo pajamas on sale for $3!
Lexi's dresser!
Lexi's crib!
