Belly pics!

There ya have it. That last picture is me at 23 weeks. HUGE-O! :)

23 Weeks. Wow.

                                            23 Weeks

Same things apply as last week as far as relating to the papaya. Here's the other email we get though:
Your uterus now extends about 1 ½ inches above your belly button, and your weight gain should be around 12 to 15 pounds. (sweet. i'm normal!)
Your baby is continuing to gain weight, but the next several weeks will be when he/she really begins to fill out. Lanugo, or the fine hair that covers your baby’s body, may darken at this point allowing it to be seen on an ultrasound. Your baby is also beginning to look more like it will at birth.

---------

Total Weight Lost/ Gained: 142. 14 pounds up.

Maternity Clothes: things are getting much, much tighter!
Gender: A baby girl :)
Movement: She seems to move quite a bit. Maybe this means she's going to be an active little thing? or maybe she is just cramped?
What I miss: Sleep. I don't think this answer will change much more ha.
Sleep: Had a total of about 3 nights straight where I slept pretty good! That streak is over though - last night was bad again. But hey, I'll take my 3 nights!
Symptoms: Fatigue, headaches, fast growing nails, baby brain, feeling hot, my hormones making me 'outspoken', big fingers, legs that are killing me, back that is killing me, not sleeping well, and could I complain any more?
Cravings: well mexican food is back on the 'like' list. Wednesday night I had a real craving though - sparkling grape juice. Yep. Chad went and picked some up and I believe he had one glass- maybe two....I had the rest :)
Best Moment this week: We were sitting in church yesterday and she started moving. Chad put his hand on my belly and just left it there to see if he could feel anything - then BAM- ava punched his hand haha It was the biggest one yet!
We also let her listen to Michael Buble and Coldplay this weekend- she seemed to love it. Well, either she loved it or she was moving around because it was way too loud and we were disturbing her ha!
What I'm looking forward to: her being here haha starting on the nursery will be fun!

Doctor visit update

Well we had another Ultrasound and doctors appointment last thursday. I just LOVE getting to see Ava! It's still hard to comprehend that there is a tiny little girl growing in my stomach...WOW.
We were the first ones called back for the US. Its the free ones they do at a college here so their techs can get practice. This = awesome. We ended up getting the same girl we got last time who was taking her final THAT day to graduate. She was really cool- she's good about showing us everything and every angle and she talked about how if she has time she likes just holding the wand still so you can see her jump. That is one of my favorite parts!
We got to see Ava suck her thumb! It was adorable. Her little hand was up there right at her mouth. SO cute. We also got to see her 'drinking' the amniotic fluid (sounds appetizing, doesn't it?). It was so cute because her little jaw was just going to town gulping the stuff in. She weighed 1 lb 1 oz. Big girl ha. She also grabbed her feet again which is something I fully expect to see when she is born too because we've seen it every ultrasound now. Im suprised she can do it so easily with her big round belly in the way!

We had to wait a little while at the doctors office because she actually delivered 2 babies while we were there! I made the note that I'm sure people don't get TOO impatient while waiting if they themselves are pregnant because in a couple months they'll be needing the same attention!
We were there for a little over 2 hours but it was fine. We asked her all the questions we had been saving up of all the 'weird' stuff going on -- everything is normal, of course ha. She is very open and to the point so its kinda nice to have her just be like 'no, thats normal' and move on.
She measured my belly for the first time this visit. I measured at 23 weeks which was right on track she said. Its give or take 2 weeks.
I got my blood taken and found out my iron was a little low. I am now taking iron daily. Pills Pills Pills haha whew!

SO final stats:
Ava is 1 lb 1 oz
I am 141 pounds (wow)
I am measuring 23 weeks
I am a normal pregnant lady haha
My iron is low

There you have it! Next visit is in October and is my glucose test. I go in first think in the morning, get to drink a 'breakfast shake' (from what I heard, this is no shake, it is nasty) and then an hour later get tests done. Now that sounds like a fun appointment. AND it'll be right after we are at the beach for a weekend eating all that amazing food. Not sure if that messes anything up or not but still haha. Hope I dont have to go back for the 3 hour test - yikes!
Besides that we are busy, busy, busy. Every weekend is full, almost every week night is full too. Chad is the interim youth director for the youth group at church which has been a huge blessing in so many ways to us. That has kept us busy and then we are also on the search comittee for a new youth minister so that has kept us even more busy. We have a candidate coming in this weekend, the next weekend is Memphis trip (yay!) and the next weekend is a praise weekend at our church, then the next weekend is a weekend trip to Alligator point again. Whew! Better get it all done before I can't travel anymore!

22 weeks!

Your Baby: Month 5  (we have graduated to months now)

Watch what you say -- baby is now able to hear outside noise from down in the womb. Studies show that baby finds gentle music and your own voice most soothing. (we played her classical music this morning! hope she liked it ha) Nipples are starting to sprout, and that little face is fully formed. And, baby's starting to settle into sleep cycles, snoozing about 12 to 14 hours a day. It shouldn't be hard to figure out when -- just pay attention to those kicks as they start and stop.
--
You can now feel the top of your uterus about ¾ of an inch above your belly button. As we talked about last week, many women describe this as a comfortable period of pregnancy. (I know most women say this, and maybe it IS, but I'm not 'comfortable', but I'm also not extremely 'uncomfortable'. We'll see how this works out as the weeks progress...)
Your baby has pretty much taken on the form of a newborn baby, but is incredibly small. Much development will continue to occur over the next 18 weeks. His or her skin appears wrinkly, but this is because he/she has not yet gained enough weight to fill the skin out. The lips are becoming more distinct. The eyes have completely formed, but the iris (the colored portion of the eye) still lacks pigment. The eyelids and eyebrows are in place, and the pancreas is continuing to mature.
---------
Total Weight Lost/ Gained: apparently according to the doctor last week I weigh 141 on their scale.Thats 13 pounds total. Whew.
Maternity Clothes: still need to find some jeans. my favorite thing lately is gaucho pants. yes, i know they aren't worn a whole lot anymore but hey, I'm pregnant. great excuse.
Gender: A baby girl :)
Movement: She does sleep a lot but she has her active times too! There have been several days where she is just goin goin goin!
What I miss: Sleep. I don't think this answer will change much more ha.
Sleep: Legs still hurting. Doctor says this is 'normal'. Bleh. Guess it is worth it though :)
Symptoms: Fatigue, headaches, fast growing nails, baby brain, feeling hot, my hormones making me 'outspoken', big fingers, legs that are killing me, back that is killing me, not sleeping well, and could I complain any more?
Cravings: most food. yep, not ALL food anymore. apparently if I eat TOO much of something then I get turned off real quick and can't have it for a while. Lately it was mexican food.
Best Moment this week: Chad felt her again! Little movements but still- there is not a moment that is more fun to share in than that :)
What I'm looking forward to: more movement and maybe sleeping better??

21 Weeks!

Your Baby: Week 21

Baby gulps down several ounces of amniotic fluid every day, both for hydration and nutrition and to practice swallowing and digesting. And, these days, those taste buds actually work! Studies show that after birth, babies are most interested in tastes they've already experienced through amniotic fluid. Meaning, think about what you want your future child to eat as you prepare your own lunch. (yikes, I haven't been eating the greens and good stuff enough...wonder if Ava will be picky...)

If you place your fingers about a half inch above your belly button, you may be able to feel your uterus. The vast majority of people that you encounter will realize that you are expecting. If you notice that your lower legs and feet swell towards the end of the day, try to schedule a couple of times a day that you can sit and rest. If you seem to be battling oily skin and/or increased breakouts on your face or other parts of your body, wash your face with a gentle soap and water twice a day. (do people not wash their face like this anyways?)
Many women enjoy this portion of pregnancy the most. They have survived many of the early pregnancy symptoms and are not so big that they feel incredibly uncomfortable. Try to relax during this time and enjoy being pregnant.
-Up until this point your baby’s length was measured from the crown of their head to the bottom of their rear end (CRL). Now your baby’s length is measured from crown to heel (CHL).Your baby has grown to over 8 ½ inches long and weighs about 12 ounces.
-----------------
Total Weight Lost/ Gained: up to 139. Thats a total of 11 pounds now. I go to the doctor for an official weigh, that weight is just from my office so could be a couple pounds off. Wow, 11 pounds yikes haha

Maternity Clothes: Well I really need to find some jeans. I have somehow misplaced my Bellaband (probably hiding in a pile of laundry somewhere) so I havent been able to wear ANY jeans lately. I am LOVING stretchy skirts and pants. LOVING.

Gender: A baby girl :)

Movement: Yes! I feel her rolling and moving around. Its not a ton but its enough to make me incredibly happy :) I have noticed I feel her later at night so apparently that means she'll be awake then? That is OK with me as long as she sleeps in...haha

What I miss: Sleeeeep

Sleep: My legs just HURT for no reason at night. Not cramping, just hurting. C'mon, gimme a break. I did buy a body pillow last weekend that helped, but not a great deal haha

Symptoms: Fatigue, headaches, fast growing nails, baby brain, feeling hot, my hormones making me 'outspoken', big fingers, legs that are killing me, back that is killing me, not sleeping well, and could I complain any more?

Cravings: all food still haha

Best Moment this week: Monday night Chad felt her a little :) Not much, but a little roll. It was so exciting!!

What I'm looking forward to: more movement more movement more movement :)

20 weeks - HALF WAY THERE!

Your Baby: Week 20

Baby's digestive system is busy creating meconium (a tarry black substance made of swallowed amniotic fluid, digestive secretion and dead cells), which will fill the first diaper after birth. And, speaking of the diaper situation... baby's genitals are now fully formed!

*this is from our American Pregnancy Association email, and it is more accurate because at our last ultrasound we were closer to these numbers...* Your baby is about 7 ¾ inches long and weighs approximately 9 ounces.

------------------

How Far Along: 20 Weeks! Hard to believe I'm halfway there..but its taking FOREVER

Total Weight Lost/ Gained: up 7.5 pounds.

Maternity Clothes: Needing to go out and get some maternity jeans because mine are getting tighter and tighter haha I love the bella band still though. thanks to all my giving friends I have SO MANY borrowed clothes- most of them are for the fall though so I'm holdin out!

Gender: A baby girl :)

Movement: YES! Finally :) I have felt her and its been about 3-7 times a day. Little flutters and like she is rolling over. It is just the coolest thing in the world!

What I miss: Sleeeeep

Sleep: what is that again?

Symptoms: Well thanks to my previous post you are now caught up on all symptoms. Fatigue, headaches, fast growing nails, baby brain, feeling hot, my hormones making me 'outspoken', and now my fingers are getting big haha

Cravings: all food.

Best Moment this week: just feeling her randomly. it just makes me stop and smile and put my hand on my belly.

What I'm looking forward to: more movements and Chad being able to feel them!
